Discover the Wild Side of Nepal.
Chitwan National Park spans over 930 square kilometres, and is listed in the World Heritage site by UNESCO. The Park consists of a diversity of ecosystems-including the Churia hills, Ox-bow lakes, and the flood plains of the Rapti, Reu and Narayani Rivers.
The Churia hills rise slowly towards the East from 150 metres in height, to more than 800 metres. The western portion of the Park is comprised of the lower but more rugged, Someshwar hill.
The park is renowned for being one of the last refuges of the one horn rhino and home to other fascinating species like royal Bengal tigers, leopards, Asiatic elephants, wild boars, sloth bears, the endanger gharial crocodiles and over 600 species of birds.
Stepping into Chitwan is like entering a whole different world. The sounds of the jungle, the sight of wild animals in their natural habitat, and the feel of untouched nature are an unparalleled experience.
For culture enthusiasts, the area is home to the indigenous Tharu community, whose unique lifestyle, traditional dance, and local hospitality provide a fascinating cultural insight. As dusk falls, the local Tharu cultural performances around a bonfire offer a mesmerizing experience under the starry sky.

It also provides flexibility for rest and relaxation, ensuring your trip to Chitwan is not rushed but thoroughly enjoyed.
Chitwan’s popularity owes much to its exceptional biodiversity and fascinating culture. Situated in the foothills of the Himalayas, the Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, houses an array of wildlife such as the one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tigers, and over 500 species of birds.
Furthermore, the unique lifestyle of the indigenous Tharu community offers cultural richness, adding another layer of attraction to Chitwan's diverse offering.
The ideal time to pay a visit to Chitwan falls between the months of October to March. This period is considered peak season because of the pleasant weather conditions, characterized by clear skies and moderate temperatures ranging from a comfortable 15°C (59°F) to 25°C (77°F).
During this period, there is a decrease in humidity and better wildlife visibility, thereby increasing the chances of spotting the iconic one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tigers, or a variety of over 500 bird species.
In addition to wildlife spotting, the agreeable weather also supports other activities like canoeing down the Rapti River and engaging in cultural village tours.
This period of the year allows visitors to experience and appreciate the scenic beauty of Chitwan, without the interruption of rain or oppressive heat.
However, visitors should be aware that peak season might mean larger crowds and should plan their visit in advance to secure accommodations and safari slots.
