What is the best month to go to Thailand?

Thailand's tropical and humid climate varies regionally, offering a diverse range of experiences throughout the year. Northern Thailand, encompassing Sukhothai, Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai, experiences distinct seasons. From November to May, the weather is dry with the warmest temperatures observed from March to May. Rainfall is heaviest from in the north from May to November due to the southwest monsoon.

In central Thailand, including Bangkok and Ayutthaya, it can be hot, around 30 ºC, all year round. The driest period, from November to February, is particularly popular with tourists. However, expect short showers or day-long rain during the wet season, which stretches from May to October.

In contrast, Southern Thailand, home to Koh Samui, Krabi, and Phuket, only experiences two seasons - wet and dry. The timing of these seasons varies between the east and west coasts, with the west coast receiving most rainfall from May to October and the east coast from September to December.

Overall, the most favorable time to visit Thailand is from November to February, when the northeast monsoon brings cool, dry air. During this period, Bangkok's temperature ranges from a pleasant 18ºC to a warm 32ºC.
