Yangon (Rangoon), the former capital of Myanmar is still the largest city. It is the country’s economic hub and home to over seven million people. Instead of modern high rise buildings, the streets of the city are lined with impressive colonial buildings and a stroll through the leafy boulevards of town will feel like you have stepped back in time. Walk along Pansodan Street and admire the colonial style General Post Office and High Court. Stroll further towards the river and observe the City Hall and Customs House while passing religious pagodas and well maintained parks.
After breakfast, start your day with a cycling trip to the river island. Lunch at local restaurant. Continue the day with a visit to Shwedagon Pagoda, also known as the Golden pagoda, whose stupa dominates the city’s skyline. Then drive to Kandawgyi Lake and walk around taking in the local life and culture. Return to your hotel late afternoon. Overnight in Yangon.
