With a vast array of habitats with their own specialized birds, Borneo is a haven for birding enthusiasts. NOTES:
Upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu Airport, we will meet and transfer you to Kundasang. If time permits we will have our first birding activity in the afternoon.
For these days our birding activity will be focusing in Kinabalu Park. The park is UNESCO’s World Heritage Site which host 326 bird species. The birding activities will be done on selected trails.
Among the common birds are:
Bornean Flowerpecker, Black-Capped White-eye, Sunda Laughing-Thrush, Hooded Laughing Thrush, Chesnut-Crested Yuhina, Blyth’s Shrike-Babbler, Temminck’s Sunbird, Grey-throated Babbler, Yellow-Breasted Warbler, Mountain Leaf-Warbler, Sunda Bush-Warbler, Ochraceous Bulbul, Mountain Tailorbird, Bornean Green Magpie, Bornean Treepie, Grey-Chinned Minivet, Black and Crimson Oriole & Sunda Cuckoo-Shrike.
Among the Endemic species:
Eyebrowed Jungle , Mountain Black-eye, Golden-Naped Barbet, Whitehead’s Broadbill, Whitehead’s Spiderhunter, White-head’s Trogon, Kinabalu Serpent Eagle & Crimson-Headed Partridge.
We depart to Poring for another birding activities. Poring is located in a lowland area which offer another opportunity to spot more birds species. After lunch, we will drive to Sandakan. You will be staying in the Sepilok area.
Among the common birds are:
Banded Broadbill, Hose’s Broadbill, Scaly-Breasted Bulbul, Bornean Forktail & Chestnut-Capped Thrush.
Today, your guide will bring to for a bird watching activities at Rainforest Discovery Centre and Sun Bear Centre. All these are located at the vicinity of the Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Surrounded by rainforest the centre offer birding activities within walking distance.

Wallace’s Hawk-Eagle, Chestnut-Bellied Malkoha, Chestnut-Breasted Malkoha, Diard’s Trogon, Red-Naped Trogon, Scarlet-Rumped Trogon, Blue-Eared Kingfisher, Bushy-Crested Hornbill, Rhinoceros Hornbill, Rufous Woodpecker & White-Bellied Woodpecker
Among the Endemic species:
Bornean Bristlehead, Blue-Headed Pitta, White-Crowned Shama, Black-Crowned Pitta & Yellow-Rumpped Flowerpecker
Early morning, bird watching before we being picked up for lunch and subsequently depart for an estimated 2 hours overland journey to the multi awards winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Take a river cruise using electric motor in search of birds. Enjoy candle light dinner overlooking the riverbank followed by slide presentation and interpretation by naturalist guide. Stay overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.

Storm’s Stork, Lesser Adjutant, Changeable Hawk-Eagle, Grey-Headed Fish Eagle, Bat Hawk, Buffy-Fish Owl, Scarlet-Rumped Trogon, Stork-Billed Kingfisher, Blue-Eared Kingfisher, White-Crowned Hornbill, Bushy-Crested Hornbill, Oriental-Pied Hornbill & Wringkled Hornbill.
Among the Endemic species:
White Fronted Falconet, Bornean Brown Barbet, Black-Crowned Pitta, Bornean Black Magpie & Bornean Bristlehead.
Morning and afternoon cruise in search of birds.
After breakfast, depart by land to Lahad Datu. Our next destination will Danum Valley which will takes approximately 2 hours by land from Lahad Datu. Danum Valley is a 438 square kilometres tract of undisturbed lowland dipterocarp forest. The density of the forest here makes Danum Valley a haven for birdwatchers around the globe.

Great Argus, Diard’s Trogon, Red-Naped Trogon, Scarlet-Rumped Trogon, Red-Bearded Bee-Eater, Giant Pitta, Black-Crowned Pitta, Greater Racquet-Tailed Drongo, Ferruginos Babbler, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Bornean Spiderhunter

Birdwatching activities at Danum valley.
Depart Danum Valley and return to Lahad Datu to catch the afternoon flight to Kota Kinabalu.
