Day 1: Saigon arrival
Begin with a pre-trip group meeting at 6 pm to meet your guide, after which they will be happy to escort you to a local restaurant to sample the delights of Vietnamese cuisine and toast the start of what will be an unforgettable journey.
Day 2: Saigon city tour
Head out in to the city and take a walking tour to admire Saigon’s historic landmarks, visit some of the finest buildings in Saigon in the old colonial district. Visit the old presidential palace and war museum to recount the more recent turbulent history. Stop for a Vietnamese coffee before heading into the bustle of China town for further exploration of this historic area.
Day 3: Saigon – Mui Ne
This morning transfer to Phan Thiet before hopping on your bikes for a gentle ride along the coast taking in sand dunes and astounding coastal views. Overnight at a beach resort in Mui Ne.
Day 4: Mui Ne- Phan Thiet- Bao Loc- Dalat
Today cycle to Bao Loc and take in some fantastic views as you pass ethnic minority villages, the national forest of Ma Lam and tea plantations. Transfer to Dalat at 1,475 metres above sea level. This French Hill Station was once known as `Little Paris`. The surrounding hills provide a fertile temperate climate perfect for growing flowers and vegetables.
Day 5: Dalat- Lak Lake- Buon Me Thuot
Enjoy a full day in the saddle exploring the region’s amazing hillside scenery. The cycle to Lak Lake winds over two challenging passes but the spectacular views are worth the effort. Soak up the great view of the town and the lake, take the opportunity to rest here and admire the view. Transfer to Buon Me Thuot for overnight.
Day 6: Buon Me Thuot- Nha Trang
Ride out towards the coastal town of Nha Trang. The ride is over undulating hills with some stunning scenery. Stop for lunch at Ea Knop before descending towards the coast. The scenic coastal stretch past turquoise waters and scarlet fishing boats is idyllic before arriving in Nha Trang.
Day 7: Nha Trang
Enjoy a half-day cycling into the countryside on a 30km loop. Starting with a short drive and cycle through villages on tiny roads and quiet lanes, stopping off at points of interest en-route. There are plenty of sights, sounds and smells to absorb. Afternoon is at your leisure to enjoy the beaches of Nha Trang where you spend the night.
Day 8: Nha Trang- Tuy Hoa - Quy Nhon
The gentle ride today takes you to the coastal resort of Doc Let where there will be time to relax on the beach. After, rise along the coastal road passing rice fields, shrimp farms, salt farms, and coconut palms. Few tourists stop on this stretch of road, so you will be a novelty to the local people.
Day 9: Quy Nhon – Quang Ngai – Hoi An
Cycle the back-roads through several little villages and past a range of scenery. After a beautiful rest stop on a palm fringed beach take a visit to the sit e of the My Lai massacre. The mood set by these surroundings is one of peace and tranquility despite the deep scars of the past. Transfer to Hoi An.
Day 10: Hoi An Countryside
Start cycling along the Thu Bon River where you have a chance to take photographs of many fishing boats and small houses. Stop by Tra Que village where many farmers cultivate herbs and vegetables. Help water the plants or fertilize the land. Enjoy a walking tour of the historic Hoi An old town in the afternoon.
Day 11: Hoi An - Hue
Today leave Danang and warm up on the flat before tackling the Hai Van Pass. Enjoy the views at the top before cruising down to Lang Co Beach for lunch. Continue cycling along coastal the road passing through small villages and timeless rural scenes before transferring to Hue.
Day 12: Hue city tour
Visit some of the most iconic sites in Hue by bicycle including the former citadel before heading out along the perfume river to Thien Mu Pagoda and some of the old Royal Tombs including Tu Duc Tomb designed to blend in with its natural surroundings and built on principles of Feng shui.
Day 13: Hue – Hanoi
After your morning flight embark on an exploration of Hanoi with its ochre-colored colonial buildings, tree-lined boulevards and scenic lakes, Hanoi is full of charm. Visit Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda as well as other sights leading to the old quarter. Finishing the day in the water puppet theatre.
Day 14: Hanoi – Halong Bay (Overland)
Transfer to Halong Bay with a quick rest stop at Dai Viet Center along the Way. Board your cruise boat and settle in. Dine on the deck before later visiting a floating village where you can Kayak and swim. Enjoy a cooking class and an evening at leisure as the sun goes down over the bay.
Day 15: Halong Bay - Hanoi (Overland)
Wake up early to enjoy a sunrise Tai Chi class on the sundeck. Visit the beautiful Sung Sot Grotto before taking brunch on the cruise back to the wharf. Transfer back to Hanoi visiting a pottery shop along the way. This evening enjoy a sumptuous farewell dinner.
Day 16: Hanoi departure
Free time at leisure until transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
