Transfer from your hotel in Sapa by minivan to Lang Moi in Sang Ma Sao commune. Check in to your homestay and enjoy a lunch cooked by the local Hmong family, spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure exploring the Sang Ma Sao Valley. Discuss with your guide the plan for the next few days. Dinner cooked by the family at the homestay.
After an early breakfast at homestay set off with your guide transfer 5 kilometres on motorbike to Ky Quan San Village where you will begin your trek. Trek about 4 hours from Ky Quan San at 1,100 metres to the 1,600 metre lunch spot, where you will eat a packed lunch. Trail length 9 kilometres.
After lunch trek a further 4.5 hours uphill to 2,100 metres where you will find the station hut where you will spend the night. Accomodation tonight is very basic. Your guide will prepare and cook you dinner.
Wake up above the clouds to admire the stunning views. After a breakfast prepared by your guide, continue trekking up a very steep trail from 2,100 metres to Ky Quan San (Bach Moc Luong Tu) Summit at 3,046 metres and Vietnams 4th highest mountain. Distance to the top is about 9 kilometres and should take about 3 hours. Once at the top you will have a great sense of achievement as very few foreigners have ever climbed this peak, however this is not likely to last for long. After admiring the view begin your descent down the mountain back to the station for your second night on the mountain. Your guide will prepare dinner for you.
Awake to another beautiful morning above the clouds, after a hearty breakfast get ready to depart. We start the day with a 30 minute (1 kilometre) trek from 2,100 metres station to Muoi Peak which sits at 2,850 metres and has a stunning view of the surrounding area. Afterwards, trek 18 kilometres mostly downhill to Ky Quan San Village and depart the mountain with a great sense of satisfaction. Your transport will be waiting to pick you up and take you back to Sapa or Lao Cai City depending upon your next destination.
