Arrive at Colombo International Airport. Please clear immigration & visa formalities, collect your baggage and proceed to the arrival lounge through the green channel if you do not have goods to be declared to customs. At the arrival terminal you will be met by Indotrek representatives and Chauffer guide who will greet you and assist you to the air conditioned vehicle to begin the journey to the commercial capital of Sri Lanka.
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Anuradhapura. Check in to the hotel after noon.
In the evening, visit the ancient temple in Thanthirimale, which is located in a cliffy rock bed about 40km away from Anuradhapura. This temple is believed to be at least 2300 years old. There is a beautiful lotus pond besides the temple as well.
After visiting this ancient temple, proceed back to your hotel.
Early morning with a packed breakfast, proceed to visit the Wilpattu National park. Wilpattu national park is well known for its high density of leopards and other animals including elephants, sloth bears and many other animals.
Thereafter proceed back to the hotel.
After breakfast, check out and proceed to the beautiful east coast of Trincomalee. Check in to the hotel after breakfast and spend the rest of the day leisurely.
After breakfast visit the Koneswaram Hindu temple. This is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is located a top a promontory overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Afterwards proceed to visit the hot water spring wells in Kanniya. There are 07 square shaped wells which are only 3 -4 feet deep.
Spend the rest of the day leisurely.
After breakfast visit the Pigeon Island National Park. Pigeon island national park is situated just 1km off Nilaveli coast. Enjoy snorkeling, where you will be able to experience many species of fish and marine animals.
Afterwards return to the hotel and spend the rest of day leisurely.
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, check out and proceed to Sigiriya. En-route visit Hiriwaduna a local village in Habarana, to experience the village life of Sri Lanka. You will be able to take a walk across the village, enjoy a cart and boat ride in the lake and also enjoy a local cooking demonstration & lunch.
In the evening visit Minneriya National Park and do a jeep safari in Minneriya. Located between Habarana and Polonnaruwa, the 8,890 hectares of Minneriya National Park consists of mixed evergreen forest and scrub areas and is home to favorites such as sambar deer, leopards and elephants. However the central feature of the park is the ancient Minneriya Tank (built in 3rd century AD by King Mahasena). During the dry season (June to September), this tank is an incredible place to observe the elephants who come to bathe and graze, as well as the flocks of birds (cormorants and painted storks to name but a few) that come to fish in the shallow waters.
After breakfast, proceed to Sigiriya rock fortress in a Tuk Tuk (03 wheelers) for an adrenaline pumping hike. Rock Fortress of Sigiriya, being named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is also famous for Sigiriya Frescos, the Mirror Wall, the Boulder Gardens, and the water gardens.
In the evening enjoy your excursion to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, which remains one of the best planned archaeological relic sites in the country, a standing testimony to the discipline and greatness of the Kingdom’s first rulers. The ancient city of Polonnaruwa has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. You will be enjoying Polonnaruwa by Cycle that can add to your excitement.
After breakfast leave for Kandy, the last capital of Sri Lanka. Blessed by a cool yet calm and soothing climate, Kandy is famous for its natural beauty and landscapes. En-route visit the Dambulla wholesale economic center where the sellers get together for the distribution of vegetables and dairy products. Thereafter proceed to visit the Dambulla rock cave temple; that consists of five different caves dedicated for many Gods and Goddesses. The cave is said to be one of the only remaining cave temples in the Island and has identical painting on the cave walls and ceiling that are identical to the Ajanta Caves of India.
Arrive at the Kandy city where the old charms of Kandy is yet to be witnessed. In the evening visit the Sacred Temple of the Tooth.
After breakfast, check out and start your journey to Riverston, the misty landscape of Sri Lanka. En-route visit the Sooriyakantha cultural center, which is an old Wallawwa ( Traditional Sri Lankan aristocrat house) which displays many antiques, items of cultural and historical value, old paintings and many other objects.
Thereafter continue your journey to Riverston where the misty hills lay ahead!
In the morning you will be exploring the Knuckles mountain range. You have the option of either having an early breakfast or taking a breakfast pack with you. Enjoy this trek as you go through the villages and the grassy and misty montane plains. The scenery of this trek is definitely going to be breathtaking. You will also be climbing the top of a waterfall in the mountains, where you will be able to see beautiful surroundings and cloud forests that surround you!
Upon returning to the hotel, relax and spend the evening leisurely.
After breakfast, transfer to Nuwara Eliya. Also known as “Little England” because of its cold climate and the British Colonial influence which can still be seen today. En-route visit the Liddesdale tea factory and plantation, where you will be able to witness the process of how tea is being manufactured.
After breakfast, proceed to Nanu Oya to experience a train ride through the scenic mountains to Hatton. (Seats not reserved)
Thereafter your chauffeur will pick you up from Hatton and then you will be transferred to the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo!
In the evening enjoy a city tour of Colombo, where you will be able to enjoy many iconic structures and places such as the Seemamalakaya temple, Pettah bazaar and Independence Square.
As your journey come to an end, proceed to the airport for your flight home with fond memories of Sri Lanka, a land like no other.
