Meet with our guide and if it is still early afternoon, we will visit the fish market, where life and essential meetings take place, because fish is an important food in the culinary culture of Indonesians. Then transfer to the port of Paotere, to admire beautiful schooners built out of wood. You end the tour with the visit of Fort Rotterdam, built in 1545 by Raja Tunipalangga: it was originally only a wall of the land called “makassar“. It was only in 1634 that these were reinforced by stone walls, at the request of Sultan Alaudin. The fort was later (in 1667) conquered by the Dutch and renamed “Rotterdam” (the cradle of Speelman). Today, the fort is fully restored and even houses a small museum that traces its history.
Morning transfer to the Maros area (previously discovered by Alfred Wallace), famous for its rice fields and karst peaks. A short walk in the surroundings and exploration of a cave that is almost 39,000 years old, full of many rock paintings. Your guide also offers you a canoe trip on a river nearby in which live many species of birds. Meetings with the local population who live in houses on stilts. In the late morning, transfer to the maritime city of Pare Pare, then you go up the river Sa’Dan, to the mountains, through beautiful landscapes. The plain landscapes are quickly replaced by thick coconut trees. Stop on the way to Bambapuang, where you will have a view of a mountain called “erotic”. Arrival in Rantepao (the capital of Toraja) in the early evening.

The course of the program of the three days of exploration of the country Toraja can be adapted if a funeral celebration takes place in the region at this time.
