Day 1
Luang Prabang – Train ride to Luang Namtha
Depart from your Luang Prabang hotel and hop on a scenic speed train to Luang Namtha. Experience the local train ride, promoting sustainability and enjoying picturesque views. Upon arrival, transfer to Luang Namtha town for an overnight stay. Explore the peaceful town, visit a small museum showcasing ancient artifacts, and take in the panoramic view from the golden Luang Namtha Stupa.
Day 2
Luang Namtha – Trekking in Nam Ha National Park
Embark on a thrilling trek through Nam Ha National Park, known for its diverse flora and fauna. Start at Ban Chalem Souk, a Khmu village near Luang Namtha. Traverse forests, bamboo groves, and a cardamom plantation. Enjoy a picnic lunch with wildlife sounds atop a mountain. Continue to Ban Nalan, a riverside Khmu village, to experience their culture and stay overnight. *Note: The location for trekking and kayaking may change in the dry season (Mar-May) due to lower water levels
Day 3
Kayaking in Nam Ha River – Luang Namtha
After enjoying a hearty Lao breakfast, get ready for a kayaking adventure on the Nam Ha River. Navigate through rapids and immerse yourself in the jungle scenery. Take breaks at the Khmu jungle village of Ban Nalan Tai and the Lanten village of Ban Nam Koy. Enjoy a riverside lunch featuring local and jungle food. Continue kayaking through the heart of the Nam Ha National Park until you reach the confluence of the Nam Ha and Nam Tha rivers. Return to Luang Namtha.
Day 4
Luang Namtha to Oudomxay – Namkat waterfall adventure
Depart from Luang Namtha in the morning and travel approximately 4 hours to Muang Xay in Oudomxay. In the afternoon, enjoy a short ATV ride to Namkat Waterfall (approximately 5 km). Upon arrival at the waterfall entrance, trek through the jungle and cross 13 sky bridges. Return to the entrance via an 11-zipline adventure. Ride the ATV back to the starting point. Stay overnight in Oudomxay.
Day 5
Oudomxay to Nongkhiaw – Half-Day Hiking to Mountain Viewpoint
After breakfast, transfer to Muang Ngoi and hike through dense jungle and rocky cliffs. The 4-hour round-trip hike offers stunning views of Nong Khiaw town and its surroundings. Enjoy the lush greenery, sounds of the jungle, and refreshments provided. Return to your hotel in Nong Khiaw.
Day 6
Explore Around Nong Khiaw and Muang Ngoi
Take a scenic 1-hour boat ride upstream on the Nam Ou River to Muang Ngoi, a charming village nestled between mountains. Discover the village on foot, visiting a local school and an impressive cave once used as a bomb shelter. Witness traditional activities like rice paddies, whisky distillation, and fishing (seasonal). Enjoy a delicious lunch and continue upstream to Ban Sopjam, a village known for weaving. Return to Nong Khiaw.
Day 7
Nongkhiaw – Boat trip to Pak Ou Cave – Transfer to Luang Prabang
Leave Nong Khiaw by boat and enjoy a scenic two-hour journey down the Nam Ou River. Explore the Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of miniature Buddha images. Have lunch in the fishing village of Ban Pak Ou. Continue transfer to Luang, making a stop at a minority village to learn about sticky rice production and customs. Visit the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre in Luang Prabang to observe valuable artifacts and traditional textiles from the ethnic groups in the area. Trip ends in Luang Prabang.Share this tour!
