Day 1
Hanoi to Pu Luong Natural Reserve
Transfer from Hanoi to Pu Luong Retreat (4.5 hours). Enjoy a delicious lunch and soak in the retreat's panoramic views. Embark on a 5-6 km walk to explore the surrounding village, interact with locals, experience village life, and wander through farmland and rice fields. Return to the retreat for a delightful dinner and overnight stay.Trekking distance: 3-6km | Grade: Easy
Day 2
Pu Luong Natural Reserve to Quan Son
Descend 6 km into a beautiful valley with rice terraces. Explore a picturesque village at the base of a towering mountain. Return to Pu Luong Retreat for lunch and relaxation. Drive 2.5 hours to Ngam village in Quan Son, surrounded by green forests. Experience community tourism, row a fishing boat, and relax in a cool stream. Enjoy dinner with local cuisine and stay overnight in a homestay with stilt houses. Interact with the hosts and learn about their culture.Trekking distance: approx. 5km | Grade: Easy
Day 3
Quan Son – Cross Border into Laos – Sop Lao
Depart from Quan Son in the morning for a full day transfer to Sop Lao, located just 15 minutes away from Nam Nern River Safari. Today you will cross the Na Meo - Nam Soy border gate pair into Laos, passing through various ethnic villages and winding through the lush green mountains of the north.
Day 4
The Nam Nern Night Safari
Transfer to Ban Son Khoua village after breakfast. Meet your guide and take a village tour. Embark on a boat journey along Nam Nern River to the National Park's Total Protection Zone. Enjoy a Lao lunch at the tourism camp. Relax in jungle bamboo bungalows and join an optional jungle walk. Continue the boat journey, spotting wildlife along the river. Arrive at a sandy bank for dinner and campfire. Prepare for nighttime wildlife spotlighting. Note: Wildlife sightings may include deer, civets, linsang, otters, lorises, porcupines, and owls.
Day 5
Return to Ban Son Khoua village – Transfer to Nongkhiaw
Wake up early and enjoy breakfast. Drift back to the village, observing wildlife along the way. Optional: If the jungle walk around the camp wasn't done on Day 1, it can be done in the morning of Day 2, based on the guide's decision. fill out a wildlife monitoring form to contribute to wildlife abundance monitoring and the ecotourism village development fund. Note: No extra fees for wildlife sightings.
Day 6
Nongkhiaw – Half day hiking up to a mountain-top viewpoint
Spend the afternoon on a short but steep uphill trail through dense jungle and rocky cliffs. The round trip takes about 4 hours. Enjoy the lush green surroundings and jungle sounds. Take breaks to admire the views. Reach the mountain's summit for a breathtaking panoramic view of Nong Khiaw town and the surrounding area. On clear days, you can see for miles. Return to your hotel in Nong Khiaw and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 7
Nongkhiaw – Boat trip to Pak Ou Cave – Transfer to Luang Prabang
Leave Nong Khiaw by boat and enjoy a scenic two-hour journey down the Nam Ou River. Explore the Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of miniature Buddha images. Have lunch in the fishing village of Ban Pak Ou. Continue transfer to Luang, making a stop at a minority village to learn about sticky rice production and customs. Visit the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre in Luang Prabang to observe valuable artifacts and traditional textiles from the ethnic groups in the area. Trip ends in Luang Prabang.Share this tour!

- What to bring during the Nam Nern Night Safari?
Please bring just one small bag/backpack and leave large suitcases in the guesthouse or on the vehicle with our driver.
Weather note – Weather can be both very hot during the daytime and very cold at night. It is recommended that you bring clothes for both extremes. The northern mountainous area can reach temperatures near 0°C (32 °F) in winter.
Please bring the following:
- Light rain jacket
- Fleece jacket (strongly recommended as the night safari can be very cold)
- Both sun hat for daytime and wool hat for night
- Long pants for walking in the forest
- Shoes for short walking and sandals for bathing
- Clothes for bathing (shorts and t-shirt). Please no nude/bikini bathing. Please cover the body from chest to knees.

- Insect repellent
- Snacks (Lao food is provided, but you might want to bring something to snack on)
- Towel and toiletries
